Local Info

2 bucket list birds with one stone! Ventoux and Alpe d'Huez but also some incredible bits in between which genuinely surprised my wife and I. Craig & Vicky have a great format at V V. Keep up the good work.

Puyméras

Vélo Ventoux is located in Puyméras.
Puyméras is in the Vaucluse department just 6km away from Vaison La Romaine and has a population of just over 600 people.
We’re about 1h from Avignon and about 1h30m from Marseille.
The village is perched on a rocky outcrop overlooked by the ruins of its chateau, destroyed in the Revolution.
Just 2 minutes walk away from our house is a bakery, a general store, one of the best restaurants in the region, The Girocedre and the centre of the village community – Bar Barrys.
On Wednesday and Saturday evenings there is a small market in the street by the bar with a pizza truck.
Lower down in the village there are two excellent wine producers where you can go wine tasting. The Domaine St. Appolinaire and the local wine Co-operativeé

Vaison la Romaine

Our nearest town is Vaison la Romaine just 6km down the road. Vaison is a real tourist hotspot with a medieval old town where you can get lost amongst the art galleries in the old narrow streets.
In the new town there are masses of restaurants and bars on the Course Taulignan and the Place Monfort.
Vaison is a fascinating town from an archeological point of view and the highlights include the hill-top chateau, the Roman ruins the antique  Roman theatre and the Roman bridge over the Ouveze river.
On a practical note there are many supermarkets, shops, banks and pharmacies.

Bike Shops

Malaucene, just 25 minutes ride time away is the town for bike shops.
Numerous shops line the main street with two main shops for bikes and components: Provence Cycles and Ventoux Bikes.
All the other cycling shops are great for clothing and Mont Ventoux souvenirs.

Other Activities

The area is great holiday destination anyway and non cycling family members will never be bored. Local to us you’ll find rivers to swim in, rock climbing and hiking. (guiding can be arranged)
Canyoning and via-ferrata.
There are numerous tree-parks close to us for fun swinging about in the forest.

We’re also close to major tourist destinations like the city of Avignon and the Pont du Gard is only an hour away. Marseille is 1h45m away.

Our Area - Quick Questions

Yes, we can book a taxi for you if you want a night out in Vaison for example.

Yes! This year Puyméras festival was the last weekend in August but there are many more events during the season.

Of course there are a number of wineries in Puyméras most notably Domaine St. Appolonaire and the local wine co-operative which you can walk to.

As part of the village fete the locals race down the street on plastic kiddie’s tractors to celebrate the agricultural heritage of Puyméras. It’s pretty crazy. Search on Youtube for X-Tractor Puyméras.

Only if you want to go sightseeing on your own. All the amenities in the village, the bar, shop and restaurant, are within walking distance.
